The people always in the search of the best UI. Moving from 2D plain interface into 3D world may give us much more possibilities.
Nice example is G-Speak Spatial Operating Environment (SOE) from Oblong Industries:
Some of the SOE's core ideas are already familiar from the film Minority Report. (In general this film based on this early work). Anyway, take a look at video above - its nice. You can see, that something not fully ready yet, and this idea still far away from the practical usage. But who knows - probably in the future LabVIEW will be based on such concept, and graphical programming will get one more dimension...
